HRM's 2005 Fund Raising/Advisory Committee

Fund Raising Committee Advertisement

After the MCRC Society was officially dissolved by HRM in July, 2005, HRM announced they would be once again putting together a community based board. This time, the board would act mainly as a fund raising arm for the project.

$8 million to be raised by September, 2006

When announced, the committee would be tasked with raising a staggering $8 million by September 2006 to ensure both phase I and II could be built at the same time. Otherwise, HRM would proceed with phase I of the project only with no announced plan on how phase II would become a reality.

Since our inception, Build it Right has contended the community will not get behind any fund raising initiative for a project the community does not believe in. Given the community does not support HRM's most recent plans, we believe any fund raising initiative for this project would be a fruitless effort.

Announcement of committee pending

HRM's original plan was to announce the fund raising committee at the December 8, 2005 public meeting at Halifax West High School. On December 8, no announcement was made; HRM indicated they did not yet have enough qualified applicants and extended the deadline.

From January 2006 to the beginning of May, Build it Right has been expecting an announcement.

To date, no announcement has been made.
