Fund Raising: 2005 Picture

Community on the hook for approximately $8 million

Despite being a large community with a broad taxpayer base, HRM's current plans call for the community to raise $8 million to fully build Option C+, a facility that we feel is not adequitely sized to meet the growing needs of the community.

What if the community is not willing?

The Build it Right group has long maintained the community will not raise money for a facility it does not believe in.

While inconclusive, a study conducted by Ketchum Philanthropy indicated the community would only have the ability to raise $1 million for a Northcliffe replacement.

If the community is not able to raise the necessary $8 million needed to build Option C+, it is highly likely that HRM will proceed with the construction of phase I only, which is little more than a replacement for Northcliffe. This defies everything the community stands for.
