Build It Right Endorses Candidates in Districts 10 & 16
(Halifax, NS) Build It Right will be supporting Nancy Sievert (District 10 – Clayton Park West) and Norman Duncan (District 16 – Rockingham-Wentworth) for HRM Council on October 18. In late August, Build It Right had asked for expressions of interest for council candidates in Mainland North.
"We have tried for three years without success to work with the current councillors," said Francis MacDonald, Co-Chair of the organization. "We are thrilled that high quality candidates like Nancy and Norman stepped forward to take up our challenge for new leadership at the municipal level."
Nancy Sievert has owned and operated a successful accounting business for the past 16 years and was a leading force in the fight to build Park West School.
Norman Duncan has been an active community volunteer in Rockingham for well over 35 years. Norman has also been a key member of the communications team of Build It Right.
"After meeting with Nancy and Norman, Build It Right is convinced that these candidates will be our community’s voice at City Hall, not City Hall’s voice in our community," said Susan Kirkland, Co-Chair of Build It Right. "With Nancy and Norman representing our community, we can be assured the confrontation and close mindedness of the past will be replaced with collaboration and vision. We look forward to working with councillors who will have a real interest in our area and who believe in genuine community consultation."
The Build It Right Citizens Action Group was formed in 2005 to lobby for a multi-dimensional recreational facility that will serve the catchment area of 200,000 for the next 30 years.
